Knee and V

  • Start Position:
    • Stand on the floor, centered behind the long side of a horizontally positioned step platform.
    • Face the platform with both feet comfortably apart and maintain an upright posture.
    • Use a stable platform at a height appropriate for your experience and ability.
  • Description:
    • The Knee and V is a step aerobics combination that alternates corner knee lifts with V-Steps. The movement begins with a right-foot lead toward the left corner, followed by a left-foot V-Step. The sequence is then repeated in the opposite direction, creating a continuous pattern with alternating lead feet.

The corner knee lifts use a diagonal approach across the body, with the right foot leading toward the left corner and the left foot leading toward the right corner.
  • Sequence:
    1. Left Corner Knee Lift: Step onto the left corner of the platform with the right foot. Lift the left knee to a comfortable height. Return the left foot to the floor, followed by the right foot.
    2. Left-Foot V-Step: Step onto the platform with the left foot toward the left side, then step onto the right side with the right foot, forming a V-shaped stance. Step down with the left foot, followed by the right foot, returning to the starting position.
    3. Right Corner Knee Lift: Step onto the right corner of the platform with the left foot. Lift the right knee to a comfortable height. Return the right foot to the floor, followed by the left foot.
    4. Right-Foot V-Step: Step onto the platform with the right foot toward the right side, then step onto the left side with the left foot, forming a V-shaped stance. Step down with the right foot, followed by the left foot.
    5. Repeat the combination, alternating between the left and right corners of the platform.
  • Notes:
    • Movement submitted by Kasmira.
    • The Knee and V combines corner knee lifts and V-Steps into a continuous aerobic sequence.
    • Practice the corner knee lifts and V-Steps separately before combining them.
    • Maintain an upright posture and lift each knee only as high as is comfortable without losing balance.
    • Place the entire supporting foot securely on the platform, particularly when stepping toward the corners.
    • During V-Steps, position both feet securely within the usable platform surface rather than near its edges.
    • When approaching the opposite corner, turn the body naturally toward the direction of travel. Avoid twisting the supporting knee or reaching awkwardly across the platform.
    • Precaution: The diagonal corner movements require coordination and awareness of foot placement. Begin slowly and use a lower platform if needed.
    • For a simpler variation, practice the movements individually before attempting the complete combination.
