Around the World
- Start Position:
- Stand facing a horizontally positioned step platform, near its right end.
- Keep the feet in a comfortable starting position and maintain an upright posture.
- Select a platform height appropriate for your experience and fitness level.
- Description:
- Around the World is a traveling step aerobics movement that combines a step-up, knee lift and turning motion. The participant steps onto the platform, lifts the opposite knee and pivots to face the end of the platform before stepping down on the opposite side. Repeating the movement returns the participant to the original side of the platform.
- Sequence:
- Stand facing the platform near its right end.
- Step onto the right side of the platform with the right foot.
- Lift the left knee while making a small, controlled hop on the right foot, turning toward the right end of the platform.
- Continue turning and step down onto the opposite side of the platform with the left foot.
- Bring the right foot down beside the left foot, completing the turn so that you are facing the platform from the opposite side.
- Step onto the platform again with the right foot.
- Lift the left knee and repeat the turning movement, stepping down with the left foot followed by the right foot.
- Finish facing the platform from the original side.
- Notes:
- The movement combines a knee lift, controlled hop and directional turn.
- The right foot leads both repetitions in the sequence described above.
- The movement may be reversed by beginning on the left side and leading with the left foot.
- Keep the turning movement controlled and avoid twisting the supporting knee.
- Use a low platform and practice the turning pattern without hopping before adding the full movement.
