UCLA Extension Courses
UCLA Extension, the continuing education division of UCLA offers 4 online courses in Fitness Instruction.
This course provides an introduction to the structure, function, and integration of cells, tissues, and organs of the human body. Systems considered include muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, endocrine, reproductive, sensory, and cognitive.
Unfold the mysteries of the cell and the basic structure and function of the nervous, muscular, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and immune systems by taking this online course.
This course provides students with a background in the basics of nutrition and stresses the link between nutrition practices, health, disease, and exercise performance.
This course provides fitness instructors with an understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and the application of basic biomechanical principles to the moving body.
Technical Requirements:
Courses are instructor-led and follow a workshop format. UCLA online courses are asynchronous, which means that participants can log in at any time to participate. Assignments and discussions take place using email and the web. Textbooks, when required, can be ordered at 1-800-325-3252 or online at UCLA Bookstore
The platform utilized for UCLA Extension online courses is Blackboard and below is the URL for an online course orientation/introduction. The technical requirements are a PC or Mac, Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher), or Netscape Navigator 4.0 (or higher). Furthermore, course managers are available via phone, fax and email to guide all online students through the process.
