Start Position:
- Similar to Hook Kick, but with a 180 degree turn.
Description:
- The spinning hook kick is applied from a fighting stance using the back leg. It begins with a turn of the head, followed by the upper body, pulling the back leg around and then through to the target area.
Technique:
- From a fighting stance with right foot forward, look over left shoulder
- Let the upper body follow your head
- Acquire the target visually
- Lean slightly right
- Bring knee close to body and extend towards target like a hook kick
- Strike with heel of foot
- Follow through by using the hamstring to move leg through target
Targets:
- Side of knee (back region of side knee)
- Back of knee
- Jawline
- Temple area of head
- Back, upper (acts as a push), lower (can cause pain)
- Abdomen (if beside opponent)
Notes:
- Just like with the hook kick, this kick is partly for show. However, it can be applied as a potentially strong self-defense weapon.
- The seasoned self-defense practitioner can apply this kick with extreme precision and powerful results. My suggestion is that this not be used in competition due to it's capabilities for destruction.
